After six weeks of visitors being able to enjoy FREE parking since the partial reopening of Ruddington’s country park facilities to visitors, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced its charges will resume soon.
With the further, recent Government easing of COVID-19 Coronavirus restrictions, from Monday June 29th, the pay-and-display rate of £1 per day will be reintroduced – allowing a maximum 8 hour stay. Blue badge holders can still get 3 hours free within the 11 dedicated disabled spaces. Regular visitors to Rushcliffe Country Park can also buy an annual parking permit for £30. All motorists are reminded to follow ‘social distancing’ measures in line with central government guidance when using the car park.
The authority says it will also reintroduce parking fees at its other sites – Bridgford Road, Gordon Road and Nursery Road car parks in West Bridgford, Bunny Lane in Keyworth and Needham Street in Bingham to ensure “a healthy turnover of spaces to help support local economies in these locations”.
RBC’s Executive Manager for Neighbourhoods, Dave Banks, says: “We are pleased that our car parks can now resume their normal operations and enable the increasing numbers of visitors, shoppers and businesses to our towns and villages to find a space easily. There has been a significant increase in the usage of our car parks this week, as many retailers welcomed back customers to their premises, so now is the right time to help support those business owners and consumers with the return of regular parking regulations and charges.”
Mr Banks adds: “Charges are re-invested back into car parks that are safe and attractive and for maintenance on lighting, resurfacing, ticket machines and improvements such as the highly popular RingGo service.”
The refreshment kiosk and picnic benches are already back in use at our Country Park but with increased spacing between the benches. The Skate Park reopened, too, in line with Skateboard GB’s and Skateboard England’s updated advice – which can be viewed on the Borough Council’s Coronavirus advice page >>HERE<<. However, the Education Centre and children’s play area remain closed for now.
The reintroduction of car parking charges by RBC coincides with the resumption of a direct public transport option there. The return to an almost full timetable on Nottingham City Transport’s services from June 28th will see its Green 10C and Green 10X buses serving Rushcliffe Country Park and Ruddington Fields Business Park once again, subject to current Safer Travel Guidance.
